The Bay Area has another basketball championship to celebrate — or at least the opportunity to bring one home. In only their second season, the Golden State Valkyries have reached the 2026 WNBA Finals, where they will face the Atlanta Dream in a best-of-seven series beginning Saturday, October 17, at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Led by Gabby Williams and head coach Natalie Nakase, the Valkyries have made history with their rapid rise from expansion franchise to championship contender. Their success follows a remarkable period of fan support, including sold-out home games and record-setting attendance that have helped establish Golden State as one of the WNBA’s most exciting markets. Now, with home-court advantage and the Bay Area behind them, the Valkyries have an opportunity to join the region’s championship basketball tradition.
